About the business
Alloa-based salon, Hils Holistic Skincare, provides a range of skincare and beauty services to clients.
The support from Business Gateway and Alloa First ensured my business was ready to re-open when we were given the green light.
How Business Gateway has helped
Hils Holistic Skincare had to shut its doors following the introduction of the national lockdown in March due to COVID-19. Owner Hilary Lawler turned to Alloa First for support to ensure the survival of her business, and the team were able to refer her onto Business Gateway.
Hilary engaged with DigitalBoost, Scotland’s national digital training programme, delivered by Business Gateway, and received three days of 1-2-1 DigitalBoost support which included specialist advice on social media platforms, blogging and website development. This was followed by Expert Help to build a new website.
Hilary Lawlor, owner of Hils Holistic Skincare said: “The support from Business Gateway and Alloa First ensured my business was ready to re-open when we were given the green light and working with DigitalBoost meant I was able to improve my digital skills, making me confident enough to produce a video for our customers to showcase the safety measures we put in place.”
Alison Davidson, Business Gateway adviser, said: “The DigitalBoost programme is a critical aid for businesses at this time as maximising the use of technology will help ensure businesses survive and thrive. To that end, it’s impressive to see how Hilary has tackled the uncertainty caused by the pandemic and used this time to develop skills that will support her business over the coming weeks and months.”
