The Happy Wee Health Club offers a range of fitness classes, including Pilates, BodyPump, and Metafit, as well as healthy eating advice and recipes.

How Business Gateway has helped

At the beginning of the pandemic, business co-owners Katie Galbraith and Karen MacDonald recognised a need for people to improve and maintain their overall health during lockdown and set out on a mission to transform how people look at health and fitness.

Their lockdown project proved popular with the local community, and despite initially running the classes for fun, Katie and Karen had soon identified a gap in the market for a physical fitness hub in Oban. After realising their idea’s business potential, Katie and Karen approached Business Gateway to find out how to take their idea from concept to reality.

Through Business Gateway, Katie and Karen accessed start-up services and benefitted from support from DigitalBoost, Scotland’s national digital upskilling programme, delivered by Business Gateway. They received advice from a dedicated business adviser who provided advice on funding. Access to funding from DigitalBoost allowed the pair to purchase camera equipment and a sound system, allowing the business to live-stream high quality classes with ease. 

Additionally, the one-to-one support of an expert digital adviser helped them to launch and develop their website and app, which allows the community to book a range of The Happy Wee Health Club’s fitness classes easily. This DigitalBoost support was essential when it came to Katie and Karen delivering their fitness classes online throughout the pandemic.
