About the business
With previous experience working for Scottish fashion brands, founder Rachel’s sound knowledge of the industry, coupled with that all-important individual style provided the platform to start her own business. Based in Scotland, with a strong social media presence on Instagram and Facebook, Strange Ray Vintage offers extraordinary vintage finds at affordable prices to rival items on the high street.
“I had the drive to make the business work, but my love for fashion wasn’t enough to get Strange Ray Vintage off the ground. Simply, I didn’t have access to the funding necessary to meet the demand.
I turned to Business Gateway, Fife as I’d heard about the support they provide to start-up businesses. I didn’t initially realise the extent of help that could be offered by Business Gateway."
My adviser, Marissa Yassen in Fife encouraged me to attend invaluable workshops including; accounting, marketing and funding advice, all of which have developed my knowledge of business operations. I just wish I’d found out about Business Gateway Fife sooner!
How Business Gateway has helped
Rachel received a £500 Young Person’s start-up grant from Business Gateway, Fife and a £150 Will It Work grant from the Prince’s Trust.
Rachel continued: “Through financial support from Business Gateway Fife, I’ve been able to take my business to the next level and add key pieces to my vintage collection, expanding my offering to customers.”
