About the business

The Butterfly Holistic Centre focuses on bringing balance and harmony through massage therapy and treatments. Based in Dundee, the business launched in 2011 and offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, aromatherapy, hot stone, cancer massage, pregnancy massage, microdermabrasion facials, and Indian head massages. 

How Business Gateway has helped

Founder Maggie Wallace has been in contact with Business Gateway since 2019 when she first sought business guidance. In January 2021, she was put in touch with Lauren at Business Gateway to upskill on social media and marketing. In October of that year, Lauren introduced Maggie to our Business Boost programme, after recognising the business had growth plans. 

Through Business Gateway, Maggie was introduced to the Business Development and Employability Team at Dundee City Council, which resulted in her applying for a First Employee Grant from Small Business Finance Dundee. She received £1,500 and then accessed further funding from the Employer Recruitment Incentive, where she received an additional £6,000 for her second employee. 

These grants helped Maggie recruit a Centre Coordinator and Therapist, which aided in the demands of her growing business. 

Maggie’s new appointed Centre Coordinator Karen Brown then accessed regular 1:1 support including HR advice and support around employment contacts and regulations when it came to new employees, as well as employee policies and procedures to avoid any potential issues down the line.
