About the business

Based in Edinburgh, Celsius Plumbers launched in 2007 to offer plumbing services, delivered by expert engineers.

After operating without a website for several years, we spent the last two years building our digital channels, but earlier this year we were experiencing issues with website traffic and reduced customer enquiries. We had worked with Business Gateway in the past, so it was our first port of call.

How Business Gateway has helped

Director Michael Cairns approached Business Gateway’s Edinburgh office in spring 2022 for help with optimising the business’s SEO, after identifying a drop in website traffic and enquiries. He received 1:1 support from an expert consultant via Business Gateway’s DigitalBoost programme, where it was discovered that the Celsius website had been hacked.    

The website, which had previously hosted approximately 40 pages, now had over 10,000 pages on the website URL, meaning Google deemed it untrustworthy reducing its visibility to potential customers. 

Working with the expert consultant, Michael put in place a new digital strategy and began recovering the website, as well as learning tips and techniques in how to improve and monitor cyber resilience. As a result, the business is slowly recovering with the website already featuring on page one of Google and business enquiries steadily increasing.
