Renfrewshire kitchen retailer cooks up success

About the business

Since launching in 2003, The Kitchen Depot has grown from a family-run retailer to an established franchise operation with 12 showrooms across the UK. In 2010 the company decided to manufacture its own kitchens, making significant investment in new production facilities in Telford and Hillington. Further, recent investment in Hillington has involved a relocation to much larger premises, with the company now occupying an impressive 20,000 square feet facility.

How Business Gateway has helped

To support the relocation of the new Hillington site, The Kitchen Depot sought investment to purchase additional machinery to enable them to bring the production of kitchen doors in house. Business Gateway identified Regional Selective Assistance as a potential source of funding and the company was successful in securing the necessary investment. Additional support, by way of a Workplace Innovation Review, will ensure that the company has the necessary people skills and management structure in place to support to the continued growth of the business.

What’s next?

Due to increased demand, The Kitchen Depot is continuing its rapid expansion. Another showroom has recently opened in Greenock and one in Ayr will open later this month.
